The highly anticipated holiday basketball tournament sees nearly 30,000 spectators each December at Tennessee High School in Bristol, TN. The report also found that the tournament produces an indirect economic impact of nearly $3.4 million in the Tri-Cities area each year.
“This report was able to quantify the significant value of Arby’s Classic basketball tournament to local economies and communities,” said Richard Ensor, Director of the Arby’s Classic Tournament. “We are proud of what the tournament brings to the community and what it has become over the years.”
Other key findings of the report include:
- Approximately 15% of the 30,000 spectators, or approximately 4,500 people, are out-of-area guests
- Spectators and Attendees/Teams stay an average of 5 nights in Bristol and spend approximately $116 daily in the area

The Arby’s Classic tournament will be December 17-31, 2016 at Viking Hall. The Arby's Classic mission is to (1) promote basketball in the region, and (2) to expose the fans to outstanding players and teams in the country.
